Over the years became an incdredible peace of software. Some time) or download it from the VorpX cloud (free of coarse). Aug 31, 2017 - John Powah @PowahJohn. Joined January 2015. © 2019 Twitter; About Help Center Terms Privacy policy Cookies Ads info.
- I have it - and to be honest, it has seen very little use - some games have worked pretty cool (System Shock 2) - other games not so much. The better non-native VR experiences I have had are the mods I found here (DoomBFG and No One Lives Forever 2) as well as games like Alien Isolation.
There is a lot of native and non-native VR content available to get through that is worth your time before VorpX - but it does 'work' and I am glad that I have it. But I wouldn't say it is 100% worth the money it costs.Check out my band at http://theheavyjack3.bandcamp.com/ - our entire discography has been released for free download.1 - Sounds like these games are better when they are natively optimized by the developers. Thanks for your input.
- Some games work better than others, Fallout New Vegas is supposed to be as good as a made for VR game apparently. I bought VorpX AGES ago but I haven't had much chance to use it because native VR games are so good. I bought it ages before I got my Rift because I was expecting AAA quality VR games to be few and far between but thanks to Facebook's cash I haven't had any need to use it.
I'm still going to use it at some point though just to play Bioshock, Outlast and Fallout New Vegas. Bioshock in particular is supposed to be pretty scary in VR-O-Vision.'This you have to understand. There's only one way to hurt a man who's lost everything. Give him back something broken.'
Thomas Covenant, Unbeliever - My adult son has it and considers it a waste of money, no game he has tried ended up being usable in a decent manner no matter what guides or tips he tried.
I do want to try Fallout New Vegas - but I have it all setup with Fear and Loathing in New Vegas (plus a few tweaks of my own) from last year, and I am the very final bit of the game which started to get crashy around completing the final DLC. I've got maybe 10 hours left in the main campaign. Then I am going to give it some time and check about reinstalling it with a few mods with the intent of seeing it in VR.Some games work better than others, Fallout New Vegas is supposed to be as good as a made for VR game apparently. Bioshock is one I really want to try as well - Outlast, maybe I don't know I beat it on flat screen and it wasn't so much scary as it was nerve wracking. I mean the tension wears off the first few times you die in any scenario until you figure out the maze - but in VR, I don't think I could handle the panic. lol
I have played through half of the first level of System Shock 2 in VorpX - and even though it is not as immersive as some of the native based VR, I believe I may finish it (or most of it in VR). In fact I am not sure how possible this is - but I hope someone would take up the time to mod the NewDark engine to properly support VR - Thief, Thief 2 and System Shock 2 in proper VR would be insane.Check out my band at http://theheavyjack3.bandcamp.com/ - our entire discography has been released for free download.0- I bought it back in the DK2 days but I have never used it (or even installed it) for the CV1.When Einstein was asked how it felt to be the smartest man on Earth, he replied, “I wouldn’t know. Ask Nikola Tesla”.
- Bought it back in 2015, for the sake of playing gta5. Bought gta5 for the same reason. It was a waste, pretty much.
- edited March 2018I have to admit, I also bought it a couple of years ago and it has seen little use for me, too.
But that isn't because I think it's not any good - on the contrary, I think it's an excellent piece of programming - my problem is that the games I want to use it for don't work well in it - and both of those are down to FoV and due to the game restrictions, not those of VorpX.
I made vids of both these games - 7 Days To Die and Empyrion. Both work very well with VorpX, but because the devs restricted the FoV in both of those (both unity games btw), I can't play them.
Far Cry 3 has a similar issue - but others have managed to fix it.
In the 'old' days you had to fiddle to get games to work, sometimes for days. The latter versions are far better, though, and you generally need to do a lot less fiddling to get a result.
I would say, if you are prepared to fiddle with files to get the result you want - go for it. Otherwise, I would advise against it.
edit: One other point - I find using FPS with VorpX is much more likely to make me feel sick than made-for-VR or dev modded games. Half Life 2 is a good example - works well with VorpX but I start to feel very sick within a couple of minutes.
Wonder when the HL2 'official' VR mod is finally going to see the light of day...0 - If field of view is reduced for most games that would be a deal breaker
I liked GTAV - I mean, as far as a GTA game goes - I wish they would drop the arcade mission structure and go to a more free form Bethesda mission setup especially since they switched to first person. I also wish they would drop most of the overt comedy elements elements - some satire is ok, but it really feels like they build this huge believable world and then fill with a bunch of on-the-nose social commentary that makes it border on parody. They need to be less heavy handed with those elements - it worked for the original 3d trilogy because of the cartoon graphics.Bought it back in 2015, for the sake of playing gta5. Bought gta5 for the same reason. It was a waste, pretty much.
I mean walk around in GTA V and just watch everything they paid attention to - from the way the traffic lights function to the way back alleys look. It really is a brilliant world - and then they kind of ruin it with Sprunk ad's, which while I see the humour in it, ruins the immersive quality's of the game because they wanted to make a semen joke... take 95% of the low-brow humour out and replace it with a more stark realistic setting and when your characters do something funny it is actually funny.
I tried running it in VorpX with the GTA VR mod - but I think I need to uninstall and reinstall because of other mod conflicts - and that is just something I am not ready to do right now (with the 70gb install and all, lol).Check out my band at http://theheavyjack3.bandcamp.com/ - our entire discography has been released for free download.0
